Beach Please

So... it's already Thursday! That means I missed my Wedding Wednesday post yesterday awww :( Well, don't worry I didn't have much to say this week! Yesterday was a public holiday in Hong Kong but that doesn't mean I got to rest! I had a 10-hour shooting for a tv commercial... I'm exhausted!

This post is kinda overdue too, it's from two weekends ago when J and I went to Long Ke Beach in Sai Kung! As I mentioned when I first blogged about it, I think it's the best beach in Hong Kong, so perfect, so calm, so clean! I was wearing this nice one-shoulder ruffled swimsuit from my fashion and accessories shop, Frill Me. I love it, the quality is great and it fits my body so well :)

To get to Long Ke beach you need to walk around 20 minutes, but the whole journey is perfect, overlooking the beach from the mountain... Just priceless.

Discovery Bay

Discovery Bay is the American suburb of Hong Kong. Practically isolated from the city, it's filled up with expatriates with children who like to live away from the city buzz. It's located half an hour by ferry from Central, in Lantau Island. J and I are planning on moving to a bigger place after our wedding, so we're now enjoying visiting all the residential areas in Hong Kong we'd consider living in. Our current apartment has two bedrooms but we turned one of them into our dressing room so there is no space for a baby... Anyway, I didn't like Discovery Bay at all, it's so inconvenient! I guess this is what a suburbia is like after all, and it is not for me. You can only get to Discovery Bay by ferry or bus, no cars are allowed! Crazy @@ I can't imagine living there regardless of their beautiful beach. Besides, I got 40 mosquito bites, OMG! I don't think you'll be seeing me around there anytime soon!

A quick tour of our summer house

I've been to our summer house today, which is about an hour away from Barcelona. No matter how busy my schedule is these days, I HAD to come here. I love this seaside house very much, for it is rare to own such an amazing property. It's a two stories house separated from the beach only by its own garden. It's the perfect place for kids to enjoy an unforgettable summer, and for adults to relax away from the city buzz. The weather was perfect today, yet a bit cold. 

I wish I could take you on a more detailed tour but the house was not entirely ready for it today, so it will have to wait until next time. {Like my grandma had been sleeping in my room during the easter holidays and my nice bedsheets were not back in my room after being washed, and I don't want to be showing you my bed without bedsheets because what's the point!}

So I finally only took pictures of our garden and a corner of our living room. But it should be enough for you to realize how awesome this house is and why I'm so crazy about it!!!

Yung Shue Ha - Lamma Island

Last week I went to Lamma Island. It was chilly, drizzling, and I woke up way too early. This added to the fact that I hadn't been feeling well the previous day, was the main cause of the flu that knocked me down for several days this week. Oh well, at least I got some pics to share with all of you. These pictures were taken in Yung Shue Ha, a distant and sparsely populated village on southern Lamma Island. Most of the village is abandoned, and some areas are now Hong Kong heritage.

We always like to go to The Bay whenever we go to Lamma Island. It's a charming restaurant in Mo Tat Wan, with a perfect terrace and the best homemade lemonade in Hong Kong! 

Long Ke beach: Hong Kong's best beach

Yesterday I finally decided on going to Long Ke beach in Sai Kung. I had been wanting to go there for years, but never really ended up doing it. The reason why this trip requires a bit of preparation in advance is that you cannot get to Long Ke by any means of transportation, you need to walk at least 30 minutes after previously having taken a cab for another 30 minutes from Sai Kung. Alternatively you can skip the taxi and hike all the way, a nice hiking path that will take you about 3 hours to complete. 

If you decide on the taxi option, expect to pay HK$100 for the half an hour ride from Sai Kung to the end of the route, past the East Dam. From there, you will need to follow the MacLehose Trail for half an hour to get to Long Ke. The path is safe and easy enough to hike with children. Once in Long Ke, you can camp for the night at Long Ke's campsite. Don't expect to find any shower though, all you get there is one single toilet. Long Ke doesn't even get mobile phone signal, but don't worry, I believe there is an emergency phone in case something happens. This is the prettiest and most relaxing beach I've ever been to in Hong Kong. Not a lot of people venture to it, making it the perfect spot to enjoy a beach day away from Hong Kong's frenzy. I'm not sure words can express the beauty of this beach that has become my favorite, but I hope these pictures will.

Wakeboarding in Sai Kung

As I was telling you on Sunday's post, I went wakeboarding in Sai Kung on Saturday. In Hong Kong, people usually do wakeboard when they go on the so-called "boat trip", consisting of a group of friends renting a big boat to go out in the sea, usually to Sai Kung, to spend the day there having fun in the boat playing games, singing karaoke, or in the water playing water sports such as wakeboarding or banana, or simply swimming to the nearest beach to play some ball games there. This time however, we just wanted to do wakeboarding, a lot of it, so we decided to rent a small boat just for this purpose. The rental fee for this kind of boat is around HK$600 per hour. We rented it from 3pm to 6pm among a group of 5, so each of us ended up doing wakeboard for about half an hour. This was my fourth time doing wakeboard and I did quite well! I could even zig-zag and go out of the waves and in again, I really enjoyed myself! All in all this was a perfect Saturday and I couldn't recommend the experience enough! Clear Water Bay - 2nd Beach

Last Saturday I spent my afternoon in Clear Water Bay. This beach is not as pretty as my favorite one that I reviewed here, but it's the most convenient one from my home, so I come here more often than not. There's two beaches in Clear Water Bay, the 1st beach and the 2nd beach, and most people go to the second one because it's the one with the parking lot and it's bigger. The sand is not of the best quality and there are some rocks inside the sea, but it's still a gorgeous beach! What I specially like is that there is an area for kids (or grown-ups!) to make sand castles or any kind of sand art.

Chung Hom Kok beach: my favorite beach in Hong Kong

Last Sunday I went to my favorite beach in Hong Kong. Chung Hom Kok (舂坎角) is one of the prettiest and most relaxing beaches in Hong Kong. Located at the southest part of Hong Kong island, between Repulse Bay and Stanley, Chung Hom Kok beach is an inlet that cannot be seen from the road. If you want to go there by public transportation, take minibus 40 in Causeway Bay (Tang Lung Street) and get off at Chung Hum Kok beach. You can also take bus 65, although this one only runs on Sundays and public holidays! Once in the bus stop, turn right. At about 100 metres, you will see stairs going down. This is the way to the beach. In fact, Chung Hom Kok beach is surrounded by lush vegetation, so nothing can be seen yet from this point.

I like this beach the most because it's extremely relaxing. It has nothing to do with the busy beaches of Repulse Bay or Deep Water Bay. I guess less people know about it, since it's smaller and, in a way, hidden.

I still hadn't been to this beach this year, since it's far away from my place, but the experience was as good as any previous times. The only drawback I need to point out is there were some rocks inside the water, which I found dangerous and annoying.

There is a small store in the beach where you can buy snacks and rent a parasol for HK$80. Behind the beach there is a BBQ area that gets crowded with friends' get-togethers on Sundays.
